One person died while more than 15 sustained serious injuries after a tourist bus with over 70 Bangladeshi nationals onboard overturned near SIFA at Uttara Chhak in Bhubaneswar on Sunday morning.

While the identity of the deceased is yet to be ascertained, the injured were rushed to the Capital Hospital for treatment.

According to sources, the bus was carrying around 70 tourists and was en route to Puri after visiting Kashi Vishwanath Temple. Most of the passengers are reported to be Bangladeshi nationals who had arrived via ISKCON Mayapur in West Bengal.

On being informed about the incident, Police and Fire Services teams promptly reached the spot and are engaged in rescue operations. 

Preliminary reports suggest that the bus lost control near Uttara Chhak, leading to the accident. The condition of some injured passengers is stated to be critical.

Further investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the mishap.
