In a shocking incident, a man allegedly beat his father to death over a family dispute at Kurumunda village under Beltukri police station in Nuapada district on Sunday. The deceased has been identified as Paban Singh Bariha.
As per reports, Paban had gone to their farmland with his son, Tularam Bariha. For unknown reasons, a dispute broke out between the two.
In a fit of rage, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, Tularam broke off a branch from a nearby teak tree and brutally assaulted his father, resulting in his death.
Police investigation
Upon receiving the information, Beltukri police arrived at the scene and arrested the accused. An investigation into the incident has been launched. The body has been seized and sent for post-mortem.
However, the exact reason behind the murder is yet to be ascertained.

Local residents are shocked over the incident. They have demanded stern action against the accused.
“My brother killed my father. I don’t know why he has committed such a heinous crime. But, all I know is that he is the murderer. He would often cause problems in the family and take out knives, axes to attack over little fights,” alleged the deceased’s daughter.
