Pilgrim town Puri is bracing up for the New Year celebrations with heightened security and logistical arrangements aimed at ensuring the safety of devotees and tourists alike.
While the coastal town will be under CCTV surveillance during the New Year festivity, as many as 60 platoons of police force will be deployed to maintain law and order.
Anticipating a surge in the crowd from 31st December to the New Year, the local police have stepped up traffic regulations and strengthened checks at key entry points in the town.
Vehicles arriving from Bhubaneswar will have designated parking on Jail Road while those from Konark will be parked at Talabania. Visitors from Brahmagiri area need to use parking facilities at Sterling or Yatrika.
