In a major breakthrough, the Talcher police has arrested seven members of a dacoity gang and seized over 120 mobile phones worth lakhs from their possession on Sunday.
According to sources, the robbers’ gang was on the prowl in the city and involved in thefts, dacoities, and snatchings.
The police have reportedly seized more than 120 mobile phones, a car, chilli powder, pistol, live bullets, billhook and other sharp weapons from them, sources informed.
Angul Superintendent of Police Rahul Jain said, “Seven members of the looters' gang have been arrested and more than 120 mobile phones were seized from their possession which will be valued around Rs 15 lakh.”

"Besides, a Hyundai Aura car, a country-made pistol and other incriminating materials were also seized from their possession. The accused were wanted in many cases and we are hopeful that more mobile phones and other stolen items will be recovered from them,” he added.
