In a recent revelation in the Odisha Legislative Assembly, Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida on Saturday disclosed that a staggering 1,83,785 beneficiaries have been excluded from the second instalment of the state-run Subhadra scheme.

According to official data presented in a written response, a staggering 1,65,87,877 women received the first instalment of financial assistance under the ambitious Subhadra Yojana of the Odisha government. However, the number of beneficiaries for the second instalment has significantly dropped to 98,82,092 women beneficiaries.

Elaborating on the financial disbursement, Deputy CM Pravati Parida stated that the Odisha government had disbursed financial assistance of Rs 5,032.93 crore for the first instalment, ensuring direct financial support to the eligible beneficiaries. For the second instalment, a total of Rs 4,941.04 crore has been sanctioned, marking a substantial investment in women’s welfare and economic stability.

The sharp decline in the number of beneficiaries for the second instalment raises questions about the eligibility criteria, verification process, and overall execution of the scheme. Officials suggest that various factors, including documentation issues, eligibility re-evaluation, and procedural discrepancies, may have contributed to the exclusions.

The state government, however, has reassured that necessary measures are being taken to address grievances and ensure that rightful beneficiaries receive their due financial assistance.
