According to the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) sources, Odisha is set to expand its footprint across India with plans for three new Odisha Bhawans in Ayodhya, Hyderabad, and Surat. CM Mohan Charan Majhi has advised the administration to proceed with the construction in these cities where a significant Odia population visits.

It was revealed in the high-level meeting that this G+6 building [a building with a ground floor (G) and six additional storeys (6)] will be constructed over a total area of 4,761 square meters and will have 45 suites of various categories. The building will also include a large conference hall.

During a review meeting on the redevelopment of the Odisha Bhawan in New Delhi, the CM also emphasised incorporating the State's unique cultural elements in the architectural design. He instructed architects to showcase Odisha’s stone carvings, Sambalpuri Ikat, and traditional Odia culture and heritage in the new structure.

The upcoming Bhawan in New Delhi will feature 45 modern suites of different categories to accommodate visitors, officials, and dignitaries. Additionally, the Mumbai Odisha Bhawan will be expanded to include more rooms.

The strategic selection of Ayodhya, Hyderabad, and Surat stems from the growing Odia diaspora in these regions, necessitating more comprehensive infrastructure to provide support, accommodation, and government access for Odia residents and travellers.

This initiative marks a cultural and administrative milestone for the State, strengthening Odisha’s presence and services outside its geographical borders.

Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, Home Department Additional Chief Secretary Satyabrata Sahu, Chief Minister’s Principal Secretary Saswata Mishra, Finance Department Principal Secretary Sanjeev Mishra, Works Department Principal Secretary Sanjay Kumar Singh, and several other senior officials were present in this meeting.
