Main Written Exam for SI Excise and SI Traffic OMVD was held on Sunday at 115 centres spread over all districts of Odisha. However, Odisha Staff Selection Commission (OSSC) faced backlash later in the day after SI exams were found to have used the ‘wrong syllabus’.

Meanwhile, the OSSC has admitted to this ‘serious fault’ in today’s examination process. The commission also apologised for the oversight and is considering alternative solutions, with suggestions being sought by May 4, official sources informed.
The examination, held for candidates aspiring to become Excise and Traffic Sub-Inspectors, was found to contain questions exclusively from the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) syllabus, according to complaints from examinees. This has caused considerable frustration among the candidates as such discrepancies were unforeseen in key exams.
Accusations galore against OSSC
“We were supposed to appear the exam for Odia Language, English Language, and General Studies. Instead, we got question papers based on the CGL syllabus on Arithmetic, Data Interpretation, Computer Awareness, and Logical Reasoning etc,” a candidate alleged.
“If at all, they had to change the question pattern, it should have been communicated to us well ahead of time. They (OSSC) should not be so ‘irresponsible’. Why is the Commission playing with our career and future?” the candidate questioned.
Taking to his personal ‘X’ handle, the OSSC Chairman Abhay said, “The Commission is aware that questions from some parts of the syllabus were not asked in the question paper of the Main Examination of the Combined Recruitment Examination of different posts having Physical Measurement and Physical Efficiency Test-2024 held today. The Commission acknowledges and regrets the error and is committed to take remedial measures.”
“Commission is considering option of holding another Examination covering the leftover parts i.e., General English, Odia Language, parts of General Studies. The Candidates who appeared in the Examination are encouraged to send their suggestion(s) for remedial measures by e-mail to: ossc.od@nic.in before 4th May 2025,” an official notification stated.
