‘She was mistreated, her concerns genuine': BJD MP Debashish Samantaray backs Shreemayee after ‘Sany
In a surprising turn of events, BJD Rajya Sabha MP Debashish Samantaray has publicly supported party leader Shreemayee Mishra, following her recent ‘Sanyasi’ remarks that recently stirred political debates in the disha.
Speaking to the media, Samantaray said, Shreemayee has spoken the truth. She was mistreated and ignored, and her statements reflect reality. The MP further asserted that the party failed to provide her with a ticket despite her requests, highlighting alleged negligence by party leadership.
Defending his stance, Samantaray added, Whatever Shreemayee has said holds true. She has raised valid concerns, and we must acknowledge them.
“She was mistreated and ignored within the party. Although the MLAs were informed that she would be a candidate, she was not given a ticket. Now she is speaking out, and the party must address her grievances. Taking action without resolving the grievance is not a sign of a democratic party. Everyone, including Prafulla Mallik, has genuine concerns,” Samantaray said.
The statements from the Rajya Sabha MP came after Mishra posted a cryptic social media post about ‘fake monks,’ which many believe was an indirect reference to former bureaucrat and ex-BJD leader V.K. Pandian.
