The Odisha police achieved a major success by confiscating a significant cache of weaponry and explosives suspected to be linked to Maoist groups in the Malkangiri district.
The operation, which took place in the Jinalguda area under the Motu police station, led to the discovery of a sophisticated self-loading rifle (SLR), live ammunition, mobile phones, backpacks, and other items.
Malkangiri SP V. Sharma informed that the search operation was launched yesterday based on reliable input. SLR rifle with sling, magazine, ammunition charger clip and other articles have been seized from the Maoist dump.

Authorities reported that these materials were found buried underground, indicating clandestine operations by Maoist elements. The Superintendent of Police (SP) in Malkangiri oversaw the operation.
On December 16, Bolangir district police seized a substantial cache of explosives and several other Maoist articles in the Chhataratandi forest situated near Turekela.
Similarly, the security forces achieved success by busting two Maoist dumps in Odisha’s Boudh district in the month of November. The Maoist dumps were busted following a special operation launched by SOG, DVF and BD squad in Bahabalakhol Reserve Forest area under Manamunda police station limits in Boudh district, official sources said.
