As many as eight girl students of a private English medium school at Raighar in Nabarangpur were injured after the van in which they were travelling overturned on Wednesday.
As per reports, the accident took place near Jamdora. The girl students were going in the van to their exam centre in Umerkote to appear for the ICSE exam. On the way, the van turned turtle, leaving the students injured.
Local people swung into action and rescued the students. They were rushed to the Umerkote hospital.
After preliminary treatment, the students were discharged and taken to their exam centre, where they appeared for their exam.
After the exam, they were again taken to the Umerkote hospital for further treatment. One of the eight students has reportedly sustained serious injury on her hand.
Meanwhile, police started an investigation into the incident.

Some locals said the van was going at a high speed, which could be the reason behind the mishap.
However, no reaction from the school authorities and police was received.
