Odisha School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gand on Thursday voiced his opinion regarding the recent changes in school building colour schemes, highlighting a deeper political context.
Minister Gond stated that school colours have not been changed, but the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) colours have been removed.
The Minister elaborated that the previous administration had implemented a colour scheme that reflected BJD's political identity, which has now been adjusted.
"The colours that were present before are being reinstated," affirmed Minister Gond.
The Minister labelled the prior BJD government as arrogant for changing the public colour schemes to match those of the party. He suggested that all such changes are currently being rectified.

The BJD has yet to issue a statement or reaction to the comments made by the Minister. This silence leaves room for speculation about the potential impact of these changes on the party's public image.
OSEPA directive
A day before, the Odisha School Education Programme Authority (OSEPA) had issued a directive for all government schools within the state to be painted in 'Orange Tan' shade.
The new colour change will also be applicable to PM SHRI Schools initiative during construction, repair and renovation works. District collectors have been tasked with overseeing this transition during new construction or renovation projects with the new colour-code.
As per sources, the move aims to standardise the visual identity of government schools in Odisha, ensuring they reflect the uniform aesthetic initiative.
