‘Real-life Bunty-Babli’: IT dept raids 12 locations associated with Odisha couple in fraud case

The Income Tax Department officials conducted simultaneous raids at 12 locations including Bhubaneswar, Delhi, and Jharkhand associated with Hansita Abhilipsa and Anil Mohanty in connection with a fraud case.

The couple stands accused of impersonating as relatives (daughter and son-in-law) of the Prime Minister's Principal Secretary P.K Mishra, to deceive individuals and amass a fortune running into crores of rupees.

Raids were carried out at Hansita's residence and office, where investigators are scrutinizing account transactions.

Reports suggest that Hansita purchased luxury cars without loans, raising suspicions about unaccounted wealth. The case involves the acquisition of high-value assets, including cash and luxury vehicles, allegedly without transparent financial backing.

The raids aim to uncover details of financial irregularities and trace the source of funds. Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the extent of tax evasion and other possible violations.

As per reports, IT officials entered Hansita’s corporate office in Ragunathpur by breaking the locks and seized many important documents. Hansita Abhilipsa and Anil Mohanty were making illegal deals worth crores of rupees and making plans to dupe people from here.

Meanwhile, the special crime unit of the Commissionerate Police has been continuing its investigation  pertaining to the allegation on Hansita Abhilipsa and Anil Mohanty for amassing property worth crores of rupees.

As per sources, Directorate of Enforcement is also likely to investigate into the cheating cases in this regard soon.
