Residents of Rayagada in this district are filled with excitement as Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to lay the foundation stone for the proposed rail division in the civic limit tomorrow (January 6). They have lauded the PM and the Railway Minister as well.
“This decision taken by the Prime Minister is going to fulfill our long cherished dream. It is a welcome step and I would thank the PM for his efforts on behalf of Rayagada residents. After completion, the railway division will enhance connectivity, and facilitate transport in this tribal-dominated region. The tribals will be able to send their produces such as millets, pineapples, and jackfruits etc to outside markets,” an educationist from Rayagada stated.

“New railway division will help bolster industrialisation in the region. More companies are expected to come to Rayagada. Particularly, local commuters will benefit from the venture,” another local resident expressed.
“It was a demand of Rayagada residents for a long time, which is going to be fulfilled. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has met our demand and we are immensely happy for it. We thank the PM and the Railway Minister,” an elderly local said.

Notably, the foundation stone will be laid by the PM through video conferencing and he will also launch several other railway infrastructure projects.
The finishing touches are being given for the landmark event. Dignitaries from Odisha to join the Prime Minister’s virtual inauguration are Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati and Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.
The PM is to lay the foundation stone for the Rayagada railway division at 11.00 AM.
