A tragic incident occurred during Raksha Bandhan as a minor boy, Asutosh Panigrahi, allegedly stabbed his cousin sister Prajukta Panigrahi to death in Berhampur, Odisha. The attack happened at a family event under Bada Bazaar police limits. Another cousin, Ayushman, was also injured and is critical. Police have begun an investigation.

While everyone was busy celebrating the sibling bond on Raksha Bandhan, a shocking incident of a minor boy allegedly stabbing his minor cousin sister to death has sent shockwaves across Odisha. 

The incident was reported from the seventh lane under Bada Bazaar police limits of Berhampur.

The deceased has been identified as Prajukta Panigrahi (13, while the accused is Asutosh Panigrahi (14).

According to sources, the deceased along with her family members had gone to her relative’s house to attend a death anniversary ceremony. 

Out of nowhere, Asutosh, the accused, attacked Prajukta and his cousin brother Ayushman with a knife. However, the exact reason behind the attack was not known immediately.

While Prajukta succumbed to her injuries, Ayushman sustained grievous injuries in the attack, sources informed, adding that Ayushman was immediately shifted to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar and his condition is stated to be critical.

The accused has fled the spot after committing the crime.
