Miscreants led by Samarpita Choudhury duped Rs 30 lakh from youths in Balasore with fake Railway job offers. Daniel Raj is arrested, while Choudhury is absconding.

Miscreants duped lakhs of rupees from some youths in Balasore by promising them jobs. The victims have lodged a complaint in this regard at Bidanasi Police Station.

Based on the complaint, Bidanasi Police launched an investigation into the incident. One of the accused Daniel Raj has been arrested in connection with the case.

However, the main accused Samarpita Choudhury is still on the run.

As per the complaint by the victims, the miscreants have duped over Rs 30 lakh from them by promising to provide them jobs in the Railways.

“After coming in contact with another middleman, we gave money to Samarpita Choudhury, her son Daniel Raj and hher usband in 2022 as they promised us Railway jobs. They also gave us joining letters and ID cards that were later found to be fake,” said Chiranjeev Rout, one of the victims.

“They also sent us to a place for training. However, we didn’t find anybody and only cows were grazing there. Later, we came to know that we had been duped. Subsequently, we asked her to return our money and she also promised us to return the amount. However, she has not returned any amount in the last two years. Rather, she threatened to eliminate us. Once, she also planned to kidnap me by goons in Balasore. Around 40-50 youths have been duped by them,” he added.
