The authorities of Khallikote Higher Secondary School in Berhampur have suspended seven students for their alleged involvement in ragging of a girl student last month.
As per the notice issued by the office of the Principal, the seven students have been permanently suspended from the campus following the recommendation of the anti-ragging committee.
“As per the recommendation of Anti-Ragging Committee, following students are permanently suspended from the campus. If they are found in the campus, police is free to take appropriate legal action against them,” the notice read.
The students who have been suspended are Sudam Choudhury, Partha Das, D.Kirana Patrudu, K.Narasingha Patra, Mousam Behera, S.Goutam Rao and Kanha Sabat.
The members of Anti-Ragging Committee and Squad and Discipline have been directed to intimate immediately the local police station, if these students are seen on and around the campus.
However, the higher secondary school authorities will allow the students to appear in the annual examination.
As per the allegations, a Plus II first year girl student of the junior college had alleged mental harassment by some second year students. She alleged that the accused boy students from the senior batch followed her to the classroom and ragged her. Immediately, a probe was ordered and action was initiated on basis of allegations.
