The mystery behind the disturbing Balanga incident in Puri, where a minor girl was set on fire, may soon be uncovered as the Crime Branch is likely to visit the crime spot on Saturday for further investigation. This development comes a day after the victim’s crucial statement was recorded at AIIMS Delhi.

The victim, who is currently undergoing treatment at AIIMS, gave her statement in the presence of a magistrate and doctors on Friday. The entire process was video-recorded, and a family member of the victim was also present during the statement.

Sources said the survivor has narrated the entire sequence of events in detail, helping investigators move closer to the truth.

Meanwhile, during the interrogation and examination of the crime scene, a silver ring found at the scene has sparked new questions. A local jewellery shop owner reportedly informed the police that the ring was purchased nearly two and a half months ago by one of the victim’s acquaintances.

However, how that ring ended up at the crime scene remains a mystery and is now a critical lead in the investigation.

As the probe progresses on the basis of the victim’s statement, the Crime Branch is expected to revisit the crime location today in an attempt to crack the case further.
