Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Saturday inaugurated developmental projects worth Rs 1,000 crore during the Jajpur Mahotsav ‘Jajati’ on Saturday and expressed the district’s potential to emerge as a major industrial and economic hub of Odisha.

Several projects aimed to boost infrastructure, tourism, and employment while positioning the district as Odisha’s ‘steel capital’ with cumulative investments exceeding thousands of crores were thrown open to the public and discussed by the CM in his address to the media.

Key projects inaugurated include 83 schemes worth Rs 829 crore, while foundation stones were laid for 77 new ventures totalling a further Rs 170 crore. While Rs 50 crore was sanctioned for upgrading the iconic Maa Biraja Temple, Rs 10 crore was allotted to expand its dharmashala (pilgrim lodge).

Further, Rs 30 crore for a modern bus terminal and an additional Rs 21 crore was allocated to redevelop Biraja-Agneshwar Market and beautify Brahmakund, the sacred birthplace of Maa Biraja.

The CM also stated that a Rs 78 crore plan will revitalize Vyasa Sarovar and construct a 1,000-seat town hall in Byasanagar and announced the renaming of Jajati Keshari Medical College to Maharaja Jajati Keshari Medical College, honouring the region’s historical legacy.

In a significant industrial push, CM Majhi also revealed plans for an Rs 8,743 crore crude oil storage facility at Dankari Hill, expected to generate over 5,000 jobs.

The announcements align with broader state infrastructure goals, including the recently approved Rs 4,124 crore plan to build multi-sport stadiums in all 314 administrative blocks. Additionally, with the mega-industrial investments and upgraded public amenities, Jajpur stands set to become a major hub of economic development in Odisha.
