Police team on mission to rescue minor girl attacked in Jajpur, 7 injured

Seven police personnel were injured during a mission to rescue a kidnapped minor girl in Jajpur's Badachana area. The team, from Delang and supported by Barchana police, faced an attack by villagers. Pipili SDPO Biranchi Narayan Pati confirmed the incident and stated that a case is registered with efforts underway to apprehend the attackers.

At least seven cops sustained injuries after they were allegedly attacked while rescuing a ‘kidnapped’ minor girl in the Badachana area in Jajpur district. The cops were beaten up by the miscreants who have been accused of ‘kidnapping’ the minor girl.

According to sources, a girl from the Delang area was allegedly kidnapped and kept captive in the Badachana area. Based on a complaint by the girl’s parents, a team from Delang police station arrived in Barchana to rescue the girl.

With the help of Barchana police, the Delang police reached the village to rescue the minor girl when the miscreants attacked the cops. Seven police personnel including the Delang IIC was critical in the attack.

Four cops from Badachana who had accompanied the Delang police in the rescue operation were also critically beaten up. Badachana police registered a case in this connection and a special team has been set up to apprehend the miscreants who are currently absconding.

When contacted, Pipili SDPO Biranchi Narayan Pati said, “A minor girl was allegedly kidnapped from Delang. A team from the Delang police station had gone to the Badachana area to rescue the girl. They were returning after rescuing the girl when the accused and other villagers attacked the police team.”

“Our staff has suffered injuries. The police personnel from Badachana have also sustained injuries in the attack. We have registered a case in this connection and a special team is formed to nab the miscreants,” he added.
