Police arrest 10 dacoits in Sambalpur; seize 480 gm gold, 6 four-wheelers, 4 bikes & cash
In a major breakthrough, at least 10 members of a dacoit gang were arrested by police in Sambalpur on Wednesday.
Sambalpur police arrested the 10 dacoits and seized 480 gm of gold and Rs 5.12 lakh cash from their possession.
Apart from the gold and the cash, the cops also seized 175 gm of silver, two four-wheelers, two tractors and four bikes from them. The total amount of the seized items is expected to be around Rs 75 lakh.
Sambalpur SP informed that the dacoit gang was involved in several loot cases in western Odisha and their main targets were rice mills, petrol pumps and country-liquor units.
A total of 21 cases are registered against the members of the gang at several police stations in Sambalpur, Bolangir, Bargarh, Jharsuguda and Sundergarh, said the SP.
Meanwhile, the Sambalpur police is investigating whether there are more persons involved with the dacoit gang.
