In a major boost to the railway infrastructure, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday inaugurated, laid foundation stones and dedicated to the nation around 2,000 railway infrastructure projects worth more than Rs 41,000 crore in the country, including projects worth Rs 2320 crore in Odisha.
According to PM Modi, making Indian Railways safe, convenient and modern is one of the top priorities of the government. He inaugurated and laid foundation stones for the redevelopment of 21 Amrit Bharat railway stations and 50 rail bridges in Odisha through video conferencing.
Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw were present on the occasion today. The initiative was part of the inauguration for the redevelopment of a total of 554 railway stations and 1,500 road overbridges (ROB) and road underbridges (RUB) across the country at an estimated cost of Rs 41,000 crore.
Speaking on the occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “Today what India is doing is at massive scale and speed. India is now dreaming big and working hard to achieve the goal. The projects are for over 300 districts in 27 states worth over Rs 40,000 crore.”
PM Modi further said that already work initiated for 500 stations in the past. Now more stations are being redeveloped.
“I congratulate youths as they are the biggest beneficiaries of Vikshit Bharat. Lakhs of youths will get scope for employment under these projects for massive transformation of the railways. The dream of youths is my Sankalp for Vikshit Bharat guarantee. The Balasore railway station has been designed in the theme of Lord Jagannath temple and people can get glimpses of hand block printing at a station in Rajasthan. The Gurgaon railway station is dedicated to the IT. Amrit Bharat Station will showcase the speciality of the area to the work. Adequate focus will be given on facilities for elderly and Divanyangs at these stations,” said Modi.
