Plus 2 student thrashed over 'love affair' in Bhubaneswar; video goes viral

A purported video of a Plus 2 first year student being thrashed mercilessly by some seniors inside a reputed college campus in Bhubaneswar has gone viral on social media. 

According to sources, the first year student was thrashed black and blue by a group of seniors over an alleged love affair. 

The video was reportedly shot and shared on various social media platforms on Wednesday.

As soon as the video surfaced on various social media platforms, the Badagada police registered a case and launched an investigation.

"The victim has identified some students who thrashed him. As of now, there is no clue of ragging. An investigation into the matter has been launched. We have also recorded the statement of the victim," said Prateek Singh, Bhubaneswar DCP.

Sources said, the victim used to come to the college with a girl student which was opposed by some Plus 2 second year Arts students.

However, when the 1st year student did not pay heed to the warnings of his seniors, they thrashed him, sources said.

Meanwhile, the college authorities are likely to take necessary action against the erring students.
