According to the official sources, this action pertains to the situation in Jumadang village, located in Chitrakonda block, which is reportedly influenced by the neighbouring state. Close to the State border, local officials, including the Additional District Magistrate and Chitrakonda tehsildar, have undertaken a fact-finding visit to the area.
It has been known that the 33 families residing in the village are in possession of Aadhaar cards, voter ID cards, and ration cards all issued by the government of Andhra Pradesh. Moreover, they are recipients of basic amenities such as electricity, water supply, and education services from the Andhra authorities.
ADM promises State’s welfare schemes
The Additional District Magistrate emphasised Odisha's commitment to incorporate these residents into the State’s welfare programmes. This integration aims to provide them with the advantage of local governmental services in the future.
“Jumadang is the last village along the Odisha border, coming under the Chitrakonda tehsil. There is a PMGSY (Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana) road leading to the village. Around 30 tribal families reside in it,” the Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Bedabara Pradhan said.
“There runs no school or Anganwadi centre in the village. After returning, I discussed with the BDO (Chitrakonda block development officer) in this regard,” ADM Pradhan added.
