In a road mishap at Barasahi near Pubusahi locality in Khordha town, a three-year-old child was killed when travelling with family on a motorcycle, reportedly after a collision involving an Odisha State Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC) bus on Thursday. The child’s parents sustained grievous injuries in the incident.

The mishap occurred when Ashok Barik from Barasahi was on his way along with his wife and young son Amulya. Unfortunately, the child succumbed to injuries on the spot.
Both parents were severely injured and are currently receiving medical attention at Khordha health centre. Tension and distress amongst bystanders were noticeable following the fatal mishap, requiring police intervention to ensure calm at the site. Local police acted promptly to manage the situation and to reassure the crowd.
Local community left in shock
The local community has been left in shock, grappling with the tragedy that unfolded in their midst. A probe is underway to ascertain the reason behind the fatal accident.
Worth mentioning, earlier in another incident yesterday, a motorcyclist lost his life after being hit by an ‘Ama Bus’ vehicle on Balianta-Nimapada-Gop canal road near Niali locality. Another individual sustained critical injuries and has been admitted to hospital.
“In an ‘Ama Bus’ accident, a bike rider died, and the person sitting behind was injured. He has been admitted to Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar. The body was seized by Balianta Police, and a bus driver has been detained for questioning. The accident took place at Suanlo Panda Sahi under Balianta police limits,” some locals informed OTV.

“The incident occurred while two ‘Ama Bus’ vehicles were overtaking each other. During this, the bus heading towards Bhubaneswar hit the ill-fated bike. The motorcyclist was going to Jagatsinghpur side when the accident occurred,” the locals further said.
