In a decisive move against the narcotics network operating in Bhubaneswar, the Twin City Commissionerate Police, on Tuesday, demolished the house of a woman alleged to be a prominent drug dealer in Nayapalli. Authorities said the action is part of an ongoing crackdown under ‘Operation Prahaar’ aimed at disrupting the operations of ganja traders and drug peddlers who continue their activities despite repeated arrests.
‘Operation Prahar,” which began on September 2 this year, seeks to dismantle the infrastructure supporting the illegal drug trade.
In this particular case, police officials highlighted that lakhs of rupees were allegedly siphoned through this house by networks of ganja traders.
While arrests in this regard had been made, offenders often resumed their activities upon release on bail. The demolition now aims to serve as both a punitive and deterrent measure to instil fear among those involved in narcotics trafficking.
Intelligence-Led Enforcement
Nayapalli IIC confirmed that the house belonged to one Savitri Behera, who was previously arrested on September 2 for involvement in drug trafficking.
“We had received intelligence inputs confirming her continued involvement in the narcotics trade. A list of other individuals engaged in similar activities has been prepared, and raids are ongoing. Such enforcement actions will continue,” said the IIC.

Reports also added that the Commissionerate Police will now continue this action of demolishing drug peddling infrastructure at various identified points in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack in the coming days.
