Odisha YouTuber Tapi Mishra arrested over social media comments

The Infocity Police in Bhubaneswar arrested a YouTuber named Tapi Mishra on Wednesday, following allegations of making objectionable remarks on social media.

The exact nature of his comments and the identity of the individual who filed the complaint were not disclosed.

“Whoever will protect Dharma (according to Hinduism, ‘Dharma’ is a cosmic law underlying right behaviour and social order), the Dharma will protect him. Every Hindu of Odisha is with me. I have been arrested for singing Shiv Tandav Strota,” Tapi Mishra said.

While Mishra previously symbolised resilience through his military-to-entertainment journey, this controversy has severely damaged his reputation as a motivational figure.

On March 17, 2025, Mishra allegedly harassed a woman author on Facebook after she criticised his inflammatory remarks. He used abusive language and threats, leading to a police complaint under IT Act Sections 67 and 67A.
