A gruesome murder in Govindapur village under Kabisuryanagar police limits of Ganjam district has sent shockwaves through the local community after a man identified as Kalia was allegedly stabbed to death inside his house while he was asleep on Sunday.

Disturbingly, the prime accused in the case are his own wife and father-in-law, who are suspected to have carried out the crime jointly.

Man Found Dead in Pool of Blood

The incident occurred in the Harijan Sahi locality of Govindapur. According to the family of the deceased, Kalia was sleeping inside his house late at night when he was allegedly attacked with a sharp knife.

This morning, his blood-soaked body was discovered early in the morning by family members, lying motionless on a cot inside the house with deep injuries to his chest and arms.

Wife’s Extra-marital Affair May Have Led to Murder

While the exact motive behind the killing remains unclear, the deceased’s mother alleged that Kalia was murdered by his wife with the help of her father, pointing to ongoing domestic tensions.

She also claimed that the woman’s extra-marital affair getting exposed might have triggered the fatal assault.

“She (the accused woman) would talk to someone over the phone for long hours. As soon as my son returned home from work, she would hide the phone and act as if nothing had happened. This was a cause of frequent arguments between them. She may have killed my son when things reached a point of no return,” alleged the deceased’s mother.

Acting on the reports, Kabisuryanagar police reached the spot and initiated an investigation. As of the last reports, the body was sent for postmortem, and forensic experts were called in to collect evidence from the crime scene.

Though no official arrests have been confirmed yet, the police have taken statements from key witnesses and family members. The wife and father-in-law of the deceased are being treated as prime suspects and are currently under scrutiny.
