A young woman from Bhogarai locality of Balasore district alleged on Tuesday that she was blackmailed, abducted, drugged, and later gangraped by a local youth and his associates.

According to the rape survivor’s FIR, the accused was forcing her into a physical relationship and marriage. However, since she was already engaged for marriage elsewhere, she had refused. In retaliation, the accused had threatened to leak obscene videos and called her to meet him on the pretext of a settlement.
On the night they met, around five months ago, the woman was allegedly drugged and abducted to Baripada, where she was held captive and subjected to repeated sexual assault for over the last five months.
The rape survivor claims she eventually escaped and reached Bhogarai Police Station, where she recorded her statement. Shockingly, her family had already lodged a written complaint in March, but the police allegedly did not act.
As of now, no official response has come from the Bhogarai Police regarding the serious allegations, despite mounting public concern over the safety of women.
“After taking me from here (Bhogarai), he kept me in Baripada. When I recovered my senses, I found myself there. He and his three cousins had forcibly gangraped me,” the victim woman said.
“Even to the extent, they were severely beating me as I opposed the act. Today, when all of them were sleeping, I managed to escape and reach Bhogarai,” the woman stated.
