According to official sources, in a major anti-corruption breakthrough, Vigilance has arrested engineer Panda working in the Roads & Buildings Division-III in Bhubaneswar, for possession of disproportionate assets (DA) amounting to 213% beyond his legal sources of income.

Following four days of extensive searches at multiple locations, Vigilance officials uncovered a massive portfolio of assets, including a newly found four-storey building (8,400 sq ft) in Chandaka Industrial Estate, registered in the name of his spouse. Financial probes revealed bank deposits totaling approximately Rs 2.35 crore.

A breakdown of the unearthed assets includes:

•    3 multi-storeyed residential buildings.

•    7 posh flats in high-end residential complexes.

•    4 commercial units in Galleria, Symphony, and DLF Cyber City.

•    9 premium plots in and around Bhubaneswar.

•    Rs 1.33 lakh in cash.

•    Gold ornaments over 125 grams.

Vigilance officials confirmed that Panda failed to provide a satisfactory explanation for the vast wealth during questioning. He has been formally arrested under Vigilance Cell PS Case No.-10/2025. The tainted engineer will be produced before the Court of Special Vigilance Judge, Bhubaneswar.

“The value and volume of seized assets indicate long-term misuse of public office. Further investigation will focus on uncovering possible Benami holdings and financial conduits of the assistant engineer,” a senior Vigilance official stated.

This arrest marks one of the most significant seizures in Odisha’s ongoing anti-corruption campaign, sending a clear message about accountability in public service.
