Odisha is set to start a new chapter to enhance its air connectivity as new direct flight routes will link Jharsuguda and Bhubaneswar to several key cities across India from the New Year 2025.
From January 1, Jharsuguda will have direct flights to Hyderabad, Raipur, Lucknow, and Mumbai. Meanwhile, Bhubaneswar’s Biju Patnaik Airport will commence direct flight services to Indore, Dehradun, Kochi, Jaipur, and Lucknow from January 3.
These new routes are expected to significantly bolster the regional economy and connectivity, making Odisha more accessible to both domestic travellers and business events. The introduction of these flights aims to facilitate smoother travel for residents and foster economic interactions with these growing urban centres.
Chief Minister Mohan Majhi announced the development via the social media platform X (earlier known as Twitter), describing it as a substantial milestone for Odisha’s economic advancement.

Stakeholders hope that better connectivity will attract more visitors, create job opportunities and boost the local economy.
