As of date, Odisha has achieved a historic milestone in farmer registration for paddy procurement, setting a new all-time record. A total of 18,50,983 farmers have registered so far this year, Food Supplies & Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra said on Monday.

The registration process will remain open until midnight today, offering farmers their final opportunity to enroll. This surpasses last year's total of 17,50,462 registrations, reflecting a significant increase.
The Minister credited this growth to the implementation of e-KYC to prevent middlemen from taking unfair advantage of the system. In addition, a self-declaration facility has been introduced to address technical issues faced by farmers during the registration process.
These reforms have made the enrollment process smoother and more accessible, leading to greater participation across the State. The Odisha government sees this as a positive step toward ensuring that benefits reach genuine and deserving farmers efficiently.
“Around 18,50,983 farmers have registered so far this year. The enrollment process is still on. However, around 17,50,462 farmers had registered their names the previous year. More than one lakh farmers have registered this year,” the Food Supplies Minister said.
“I think, around 1 lakh or 1.5 lakh farmers will enroll their names today. Certainly, this is an all-time record. No issue arose as the farmers registered through the self-declaration form. The total number of registered farmers can be known after the final record comes in tomorrow,” Minister Patra expressed while briefing to mediapersons.
Worth mentioning, in a major relief to farmers, the Odisha government previously announced that farmers will no longer be required to produce ancestral or genealogy certificates for registration under the Kharif Marketing Season (KMS) 2025–26. Instead, they can complete their registration process through a simple self-declaration form.
The Food Supplies & Consumer Welfare Department had issued an official notification on August 16, directing all District Collectors to implement the new system.
