Vigilance officials carried out simultaneous raids at multiple locations on Friday, targeting Baikunthanath Sarangi, the Chief Engineer of the Rural Development Department in Bhubaneswar. The action was taken in connection with allegations that he possesses assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
A team headed by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Anushka Senapati from the Dhenkanal Vigilance Department undertook raids on four premises in the Angul district, including Sarangi's residence in Karadagadia.

The investigations extended to several locations within the district, covering Lakeipasi, Matiyasahi, and Sikshakpada. Officers from Angul, Dhenkanal, and Cuttack participated in the operation, which remains ongoing. These actions are part of a broader effort to eliminate corruption within public services.
