In a shocking incident, a Plus-2 girl student in Bolangir’s Nikhil Nagar slum was found dead with her throat slit on Thursday.
According to sources, it is suspected that some miscreant gained entry into the house when the girl was alone and attacked her with a sharp weapon before fleeing the spot.
As per the victim’s parents, their daughter served them food before they went out to work in the field. But when the girl did not arrive at the field by noon with lunch, they suspected something wrong and returned to their home only to find their daughter lying in a pool of blood.
The police were informed and they along with the scientific team have launched a probe in this connection. Being a slum area, there are no CCTV cameras installed in any houses in that area making it difficult to identify the accused.
The police reportedly found a doll beside the girl’s body which her parents denied having seen before.
