A disturbing case from Malkangiri district has revealed that a minor girl was not just raped, but brutally gangraped by three men. The incident occurred when she had gone to attend a birthday party and was later physically abused at two separate locations.
This was confirmed in a presser by Malkangiri SP Vinodh Patil H on Tuesday.

According to official sources, an incident of gangrape has rocked Odisha’s Malkangiri, where a minor girl was subjected to sexual violence by four men. Initially believed to be a case of rape, further investigation by the Malkangiri Police revealed it was a gangrape.
The incident occurred on Sunday evening when the girl had gone out to celebrate a friend’s birthday. While returning home, she was abducted by three individuals and taken to a place which is about 10 to 15 kilometres away from Malkangiri town.
The trio allegedly tortured and gangraped her one after another.
In a desperate attempt to escape, the minor girl managed to flee from the first location but soon encountered a truck driver near the outskirts of Malkangiri town. Shockingly, the driver also abused her. However, the victim girl was saved when some locals spotted her along with the truck driver in a suspicious condition.
The girl was thus subjected to separate and repeated acts of inhuman torture and sexual assault. Police, after initiating a swift investigation, have arrested all four accused involved in this heinous crime.
The case has stirred public outrage, with growing demands for a fast-track trial and stringent punishment. Authorities have promised a thorough probe and justice for the victim.
“First incident of rape occurred with the minor victim in a forest area, nearly 10-15 kilometres away from Malkangiri town. Four persons involved in the crime, including the truck driver, have been arrested. Only three have gangraped her,” the SP said.
