In a major breakthrough, the Malkangiri Police on Sunday arrested two accused persons in the murder of a web journalist in Muraliguda under Motu police limits in the district. The accused duo had been hiding in Hyderabad following the murder.

According to official sources, Malkangiri Police have arrested Sukumar Ray and Kankan Jordar in connection with the murder of web channel journalist CH Naresh. The brutal murder had previously taken place in Muraliguda village of Malkangiri district.
As per the case diary, five assailants riding two motorcycles suddenly attacked Naresh, leading to his death on the spot. After the incident, two of the accused had gone into hiding in Hyderabad, from where they were eventually apprehended by Malkangiri Police.
The motive behind the fatal attack is still under investigation, and further arrests may follow as the probe team continues detailed probe into the involvement of other suspects.
“During the investigation, after collecting all the technical intelligence and all circumstantial evidences, identities of the accused were ascertained. They had absconded and were hiding in Hyderabad,” Malkangiri Superintendent of Police (SP), Vinodh Patil H, said.
“We had sent a police team to Hyderabad and the team has successfully apprehended two prime accused, who have been identified as Sukumar Ray (25) and Kankan Jordar (21), both belonging to Motu locality of the district,” the SP stated in a press conference.
“They will be forwarded to court and further investigation will follow,” the SP added.
