According to reports from The New Indian Express, a four-acre government land located approximately 8-10 km from Jeypore town has been identified for the terminal in Randanpali panchayat, strategically positioned near the Raipur-Visakhapatnam economic corridor (NH 130-CD) and NH-26.

Addressing Persistent Traffic Woes

Unregulated truck parking along NH-26, NH-326, and the canal road has long caused bottlenecks, accidents, and traffic snarls in areas like Dhepguda, Sadar police station, and the bus stand.

As such, the terminal will serve as a centralised hub for parking, loading, and unloading, diverting heavy vehicles away from urban zones.

Infrastructure and Amenities Planned

Reports also added that the terminal will feature critical amenities, including water supply, electricity, rest sheds, toilets, CCTV surveillance, boundary walls, and a mechanic garage.

A dedicated loading-unloading zone and parking space will streamline operations for truckers. Officials emphasised the site’s connectivity to NH-26 and the Borigumma-Koraput state highway, making it an ideal transit point for regional and interstate freight movement.

Next Steps and Local Expectations

Led by Koraput Collector V Keerthi Vasan, the Revenue Department has finalised land identification under the Dongra mouza. A planning team will now oversee phased implementation to minimise disruptions.

Notably, the project aligns with the Bharatmala Pariyojana’s vision to bolster infrastructure along economic corridors. Once operational, the terminal is expected to emerge as a key logistics node in southern Odisha, supporting trade and reducing urban congestion.
