In a significant move towards strengthening the administrative framework and boosting the state’s economy, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday announced a comprehensive roadmap to fill vacant government posts and attract large-scale investments into Odisha. This comes as part of the government’s commitment to good governance and rapid development during its first year in office.
Recruitment Mission to Fill 1.5 Lakh Posts in 5 Years
In his address, the Chief Minister highlighted the government's resolve to address long-pending vacancies in various departments.
“We have set a target to fill 1.5 lakh government vacancies over the next five years,” he said.
Outlining the progress made so far, he informed that within just one year, 28,000 posts have already been filled through a transparent recruitment process, demonstrating the government's efficiency and commitment to merit-based hiring.
Road Ahead
Looking ahead, the Chief Minister added, “We aim to provide 40,000 more government jobs in the current financial year itself.” This, he said, will not only strengthen public service delivery but also create employment opportunities for thousands of educated youth across the state.
Massive Investment Push Under ‘Utkarsh Odisha’
Alongside recruitment, the government is also focusing on turning Odisha into a major industrial and economic hub. Under the flagship ‘Utkarsh Odisha’ initiative, the state has witnessed encouraging interest from domestic and international investors.
“In just one year, we have received investment intents worth Rs 17 lakh crore,” the Chief Minister announced.
Of this, Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) worth Rs 13 lakh crore have already been signed, paving the way for large-scale industrial development, job creation, and infrastructure expansion.
These investments are expected to span across sectors such as steel, aluminum, green energy, IT, food processing, and textiles, ushering in a new era of economic transformation for Odisha.
Youth Empowerment at the Core
The Chief Minister emphasized that the twin strategy of recruitment and industrial investment is designed to empower Odisha's youth by offering both government and private sector job opportunities.
“Employment is the backbone of development. Our government is committed to creating dignified livelihoods for our young citizens,” he said.
A Future-Ready Odisha
The announcements signal the state government’s proactive approach in reshaping the future of Odisha through transparent governance, employment generation, and robust economic planning. With ambitious goals and decisive steps already underway, the state government aims to transform Odisha into a model state of prosperity, opportunity, and inclusive growth.
