As shifting patients, including serious ones, have been all in a day’s work for them, ambulance staff Lipun Kumar Das, driver Shantanu Kumar Dehury and attendant Uttam Patra know the importance of the golden hour in saving one’s life. Without losing any moment, they along with a stretcher walked up to the house of the patient through farmlands and rivulets.
They made the patient lie on the stretcher and carried it back to the ambulance. Later, she was admitted to Kamakshyanagar sub-divisional hospital. After getting timely treatment, the patient is presently said to be doing well.
“As our village is not connected with a fair weather road, the ambulance staff helped me carry my ailing mother on a stretcher for two to three kilometres through farmlands and rivers. I am really thankful to the three ambulance staff,” said Abhay Dehury, the patient’s son.
“When we went to the patient’s house, we had to stop two kilometres away from her house as there is no road connectivity to the village. We carried the patient on a stretcher and upon reaching the Kamakhyanagar sub-divisional hospital, admitted her. Her condition is said to be stable,” said Lipun Kumar Dash, 108 ambulance staff. Ambulance attendant Uttam Patra echoed Lipun’s statements.
This noble act has evoked widespread appreciation for the said ambulance staffs.
