In a tragic incident, an Odia has been allegedly murdered in Mumbai in a brutal manner.

The deceased has been identified as Santosh Panda, who is a native of Kusunannagar village under Bhadrak Rural Police Station.

Santosh had been working as a shift-in-charge at a private company in Mumbai. As per the allegation by his wife, Santosh was murdered after he complained about some Odia youths who were allegedly neglecting their duties during work hours.

Following the incident, police launched an investigation. As many as three Odia youths have been detained in connection with the case. 

"He (Santosh) was murdered in a planned manner. He was stabbed and hit on his head with an iron rod. One of our relatives reached the place, and he lodged an FIR about the incident at the police station. The body has been sent for post-mortem," said the deceased's brother, Subash Panda.

As per reports, at least 60 migrant labourers from Odisha have died in other states in the last six years.
