Two Italian tourists, visiting various tourist destinations and villages in Daringbadi, the Kashmir of Odisha, during their India excursion, expressed immense joy at the pleasant surroundings and fell in awe of local Odia culture and heritage.

The visitors, Catherine and Tony, made a trip to Odisha primarily to learn about the indigenous culture and traditions of the 'Kandha' tribal community. As part of their exploration, they visited the remote Patangi tribal village under the Daringbadi block to witness the traditional attire of tribal women and their unique turmeric farming practices.

The tourists also explored eco-homes built amidst the forest and danced with tribal children, immersing themselves in the local culture. After spending considerable time in the tribal village, the tourists expressed their admiration to sources for the region's rich culture, natural beauty, and the warmth of the local people.

“We liked Odisha very much for its culture, natural beauty, and hospitality of the people. The tradition and heritage here are unique and unlike anywhere else we have visited. I am particularly in awe of how the locals have maintained their traditions and clothing heritage,” said Katherine, expressing her fondness for Odisha.

On the same lines, a local elderly woman named Subhan Pradhan also reciprocated the positivity and wished for more people to visit Odisha and explore its rich legacy. “The tourists enjoyed a tour of our homes, lifestyle, and connection to nature. We, too, enjoyed interacting and sharing our culture with them,” she added.

The praise from the two Italian visitors comes at a time when Odisha is gearing up to host thousands of people from across the globe for the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, which will kick off on January 8.
