New Year feast turns tragic as youth shoots brother dead in Rourkela, accused detained

In a shocking incident, a youth allegedly shot dead his younger brother at Teterkela ghat under Bisra police limits in Sundargarh on Monday.

The deceased has been identified as Khiradhar Singh.

As per reports, some friends including the sibling duo, Khiradhara and his elder brother Umesh Singh, were having a feast at Teterkela ghat on the occasion of new year on Monday.

Due to unknown reasons, a heated argument ensued between the brothers following which Umesh fired a shot from his gun killing Khiradhar on the spot.

Other picnickers informed the Police after the shot was fired. The police reached the spot and sent the body for post-mortem.

The police detained Umesh for questioning and launched a probe into the case. The cops are also trying to ascertain the source of the gun.

It is pertinent to mention here that Sundargarh district, particularly Bisra Police Station borders Jharkhand.
