The Odisha government has taken a significant decision to construct a new Lok Seva Bhawan in Bhubaneswar, aiming to overcome the longstanding challenges of space crunch and parking problems at the existing facility.

The existing Lok Seva Bhawan, which has been in service for 68 years, is struggling to meet the demands of modern governance and administrative operations. With outdated infrastructure and inadequate facilities, the building no longer serves the requirements of a growing state administration.

In a written reply to a question raised by MLA Subhasini Sethi in the Odisha Assembly, Works Department Minister Pruthviraj Harichandan on Saturday informed that the Odisha Bridge and Construction Corporation has been assigned the responsibility of preparing the master plan for the new Lok Seva Bhawan. He further stated that a final estimate of the construction cost will only be made after the master plan is prepared and formally approved.

The Odisha government envisions the new Lok Seva Bhawan as a state-of-the-art administrative hub, offering modern amenities and adequate infrastructure to cater to both officials and the public. It is expected to ease congestion, provide ample parking, and create a more efficient and citizen-friendly environment for governance.
