A fresh arrangement with ramps and a few other facilities for smooth lane darshan (Dhadi Darshan) will commence at Puri Jagannath temple on January 20, 2025, Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan said on Tuesday.
With an expected huge crowd and in the present circumstances, it is not feasible to conduct an experiment (trial run) of the new arrangement.
The Law Minister also asserted that ramps would be installed to aid the differently-abled persons coming to the shrine.

With the expected high influx of devotees, measures such as installing large fans, coolers, providing ample drinking water, and sprinkling will be implemented to manage the growing congregation of devotees at the temple.
“Lanes have been made up to Market Chhak in Puri to regulate rush during the New Year. We are trying to facilitate smooth darshan of the deities,” Minister Harichandan stated.
Worth mentioning, plans to commence a trial run for the proposed regulated darshan have been withheld and new arrangements for lane darshan have been postponed by nearly a month, the Law Minister had expressed earlier.

Odisha government made this decision factoring in an expected surge of devotees during the New Year-Day. The rush may continue thereafter due to the Ganga Snan ritual attracting many visitors.
“Rush will reach its peak on December 30, 31 and January 1. I don’t feel conducting a trial run during those days would be appropriate,” the Law Minister had further said.
“Structures meant for smooth darshan are in place. Devotees coming to the shrine during the extremely rush period (New Year) should not face difficulty,” the Minister had added.
