A general coach at the rear of the Nagavali Express, running from Nanded to Sambalpur, derailed near Vizianagaram station at 11:40 am on Wednesday. Fortunately, there were no casualties or injuries, as confirmed by the East Coast Railway authorities.

Following the incident, railway officials took swift action to detach the derailed coach. After necessary inspections, the train resumed its journey towards its destination at 12:47 pm without further disruptions. The cause of the derailment is yet to be determined, and an investigation is underway.

Passengers on board experienced a slight delay but continued their journey safely. Authorities have assured that all safety measures are being reviewed to prevent such incidents in the future.

Second Mishap Within7 Days

It is worthwhile to mention here that as many as 11 coaches of Kamakhya Express derailed near Nirgundi station in Cuttack’s Choudwar on Sunday claiming one life and leaving seven passengers injured.

The derailment led to the diversion of multiple trains, including the Dhauli Express (12822), Neelachal Express (12875), and Purulia SF Express (22606).

The Railway had issued helpline numbers for stranded passengers: Bhubaneswar (8455885999) and Cuttack (8991124238). Authorities have assured that all stranded passengers will be transported to their destinations via a special train from Bhubaneswar.
