'Naagin dance' with cobra at wedding procession in Bhadrak
A wedding procession recently captured attention with an unusual display involving live cobras at Chhedaka village under Dhamra block in Bhadrak district.
As per reports, this daring act mimicked the dramatic 'Nagin Dance' often seen in Bollywood films.
Unconventional Display
The street procession, featuring both dancers and transgenders reportedly saw over 100 onlookers as participants held three cobras aloft dancing to the tunes of the music, seemingly oblivious to the potential dangers and legal implications. The video of the incident has gone viral.

As per wildlife experts, such use of wildlife for entertainment contravenes Indian laws designed to ensure the protection of these species.
Authorities Intervene
Despite the brazen nature of this display, no intervention from bystanders was recorded. It was not until hours later that Forest Department officials intervened, successfully rescuing the snakes. Notably, there have been no arrests, prompting curiosity and concern among the local community.
The Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) has confirmed that a comprehensive investigation is underway to ascertain the details surrounding the incident, and action will be taken under the Wildlife Protection Act, 1982.
"An investigation into the incident has been launched. Three snakes have been rescued. Probe is on to nab the dancers who were dancing by holding the cobras," said Bhadrak DFO Soubhagya Sahu.
