Suspense continues to loom large over the death of woman constable Rukmini Nag from Nuapada, whose body was recovered under mysterious circumstances near the Nuapada Railway Station. The incident has sparked shock and raised several unanswered questions regarding the exact cause of her death.
According to sources, just before her body was found, Rukmini had allegedly circulated a video message to several people. In the video, she is said to have indicated that she was taking her own life and reportedly held members of her in-laws’ family responsible for her extreme step.
While the video has become a crucial piece of evidence, police officials maintained that the actual cause behind her death remains unclear. Investigators are currently examining the footage and conducting inquiries to ascertain the sequence of events that led to the tragedy.
“We married out of love. As our parents did not initially accept us, we went ahead and tied the knot in a temple. Later, after my husband’s family agreed, we registered our marriage in court. My husband’s mother, Malati Sabar, was not living with us but kept creating disturbances. Despite the torture, I remained silent. Even during my pregnancy, they never came to support me. They would visit only to ask for money. I do not want to die, but after suffering so much torture, I cannot go on living,” Nag could be heard saying in the video.
So far, no reaction has been received from Rukmini’s husband or her family members regarding the allegations.
Meanwhile, the police have assured that a thorough probe will be carried out to uncover the truth behind the constable’s demise.
“We have registered a case of abatement to suicide. We have seized the body, and everything will be clear after the post-mortem. We are also examining the video,” said Ranjit Nayak, ASP, Nuapada.
