The Commissionerate Police, on Saturday, arrested a man identified as Debasish Bisoi in connection with the alleged abduction and murder of 22-year-old Nirupama Parida, a resident of Bhubaneswar. The arrest comes eight months after the incident that reportedly occurred eight months prior.
According to reports, on January 24 of this year, Parida was allegedly abducted by Bisoi from Bharatpur. The two travelled to Nayagarh, where an argument broke out between them. Following the quarrel, Bisoi took Parida to the Tapang mining area in Khordha, where he pushed her into a water body, leading to her death.
Bisoi then allegedly fled the scene immediately after the incident and had been untraceable since.
Missing Complaint and Investigation
The Commissionerate Police stated in a press conference that a missing person report was filed on January 27 by the father of a child who was being looked after by Parida, stating that she had been missing since January 24.
Police conducted an extensive investigation over several months, tracking movements, collecting evidence, and reviewing witness statements. This month, police finally nabbed Bisoi and took him into custody.
