In a ghastly act, a man was allegedly murdered for asking for his lent money back. The shocking incident was reported from Lamati village under Talsara police limits in Sundargarh district on Wednesday.

The deceased has been identified as Salindra Majhi.

According to sources, Majhi had lent Rs 2000 to one Durjana Majhi of Barahadema village. However, Durjana was not returning it. When Majhi and his brother went to Durjana and asked for the lent money, an altercation broke out among them. The verbal feud took an ugly turn when Durjana allegedly attacked Majhi and his brother with an axe, sources said.

Majhi sustained critical injuries on his head in the attack. On his way to the hospital, Majhi succumbed to his injuries, sources informed adding that Durjana fled the spot after committing the crime.

On being informed about the incident, Talsara police reached the spot and seized the axe used in the murder.

The police with the help of a scientific team launched an investigation into the matter and launched a manhunt to nab the accused.
