In a bid to bolster the agricultural infrastructure in the district, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National Vice-President and Kendrapara MP, Baijayant Panda put forward a proposal for the creation of three new cold storage facilities.
Panda addressed his proposal to Odisha Deputy Chief Minister and Agriculture Minister K V Singh Deo in a written communiqué.

This proposal follows the Odisha Cabinet’s approval, on December 21, for the construction of 58 cold storage units across the State. The parliamentarian urged for the allocation of at least three of these facilities to the Kendrapara Lok Sabha constituency in the initial phase.
Kendrapara, a district with a strong dependency on agriculture, produces crops such as paddy, alongside vegetables, fish, and dairy products. The district's farmers have frequently confronted financial difficulties due to inadequate cold storage provisions leading to distressed sales.

The MP asserted that the establishment of these facilities could significantly help alleviate the problems faced by local farmers. He also urged the State Agriculture Minister to devise comprehensive plans ensuring the eventual availability of cold storage facilities across all blocks in Kendrapara district.
