Missing retired Ravenshaw college professor found dead
A retired Ravenshaw college professor, who was missing from December 15 from the Raghunathpur area in Bhubaneswar, was found dead in Cuttack on Tuesday morning. His body was fished out from the Mahanadi river near Jobra barrage in Cuttack.
The deceased has been identified as Baishnab Chanran Singh (78), a retired Chemistry professor. Singh was a native of the Rajendra Nagar area in Cuttack, but he was staying in Bhubaneswar.
According to the son of the deceased, Singh went missing from the Raghunathpur area on December 15 and was last traced at Mo Bus Stand in Cuttack’s Sikharpur area.
Singh boarded Mo Bus No.18 to Jagatpur and he was last seen at Sikharpur at around 8.30 am on December 15, as per the footage captured by CCTV cameras installed in the bus, his son mentioned.

Though the exact reason behind Singh’s death remains unclear, the police have recovered the body and sent it to SCB Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem.
Meanwhile, the police have also launched an investigation to ascertain under what circumstances Singh reached Cuttack and came close to the Mahanadi river.

However, no comments were received from the police or family members.
